Did FamilySearch actually post this information, or is a user adopting contact name FamilySearch?

Please look at MHV2-K83, Jones. My question is this: Was information added by FamilySearch, or has someone decided to make their contact name FamilySearch?

FamilySearch does not add information to the tree as such. When you see FamilySearch as a contributor, it generally indicates that information has been transferred from a previous version of the site.

The following Knowledge article from the Help Centre explains the circumstances when FamilySearch is listed as a contributor:

    Hope this helps.

Records that were submitted by FamilySearch were migrated from new Family Search in 2012. The actual submitter from new Family Search is not available.

You see the contributor is FamilySearch also when an account has been deleted. Notice the contributor is not a link and you cannot send the contributor a message.
