Need help getting pension & bounty-land warrant application for Matross Samuel Gibson
Well, that isn't in the form of a question, sorry. A little history: L1CF-54D Samuel Gibson @ Valley Forge m. Jane Allen has been my quest for over 5 years. I have eliminated 27 Samuel Gibsons in the colonies during the Revolutionary War. MA34090 Valley Forge Legacy was my work totally by accident & the wrong Samuel. VFL #NA34121 I feel is the right one. I requested pension & bounty-land warrant application 6/14/2019 NARA for Matross Samuel Gibson 2nd Artillery Company Commanders 1st Captain Samuel Mansfield & 2nd Captain Joseph Savage. Now over 2 years & waiting. Fold3 had 1,000 records for Samuel Gibson being a common name and there are 5 PA, 1 NH, 1 MA, and this one without colony noted. 2 years waiting & frustrated so, I hired some very good genealogist sisters who have done excellent work in the past. They got no where as I did! Tired of the wait, so applied to DVF {Descendants of Valley Forge} to force the issue. I feel confident with my submission & documents but would like these documents to solidify my work. NOTE: Matross Samuel associated {employed by} David and Joseph Potts for he was a blacksmith. Interesting connection is his Company commander Captain Savage was the nephew of Ruth Savage. She was David & Joseph Potts mother married to their father, John Potts Sr. What a connection.
I have Matross Samuel Gibson's enlistment document and muster & roll along with other documents that I had to weave together to support family connections. The Pension & Bounty-Land Warrant Application usually show spouse or relative on pension and the land would probably be 100 acres in Franklin, Fayette, PA. My GG Alice Gibson Hornby L4Y1-TBF stated that Samuel named his land "Woodside". Samuel Gibson; {unique name # LJ19-YC1} Joseph Essington whose 3 children married 3 of Samuel's; and Samuel's father-in-law, David Allen, all lived in, owned land in, & died in Franklin Township, Fayette, PA.

Thank you! Samuel Gibson L1CF-54D died Probate 22 Nov 1816 and his wife KNBG-378, Jane Allen, passed 1820-1825. Looks like the laws wouldn't have applied to them for a pension. He did pay taxes on 100 acres in 1785-6 Franklin Township, Fayette, PA where he died. Might have been his bounty-land warrant application! 3 of his children married 3 of Joseph Essington who got 124 acres for Rev. War service well documented! Samuel's 100 acres I found no deed. But have 4 Deeds with 2 mentioning "Jane his wife" and 1 with son, Thomas Gibson with all 3 for the land named, Aughnacloy, Franklin Township, Fayette, PA. Tried the links but "no results". Frustrating!! We have him enlisting in York, PA which seems to have been used as colony. Phd at PA Archives & Museum searched with me and we found 5 PA Samuel Gibson but none at Valley Forge. Just have NA34121 VFL. Had Michelle at VFL look for records used for his file establishment. Nothing! Right now they only have the 53 muster & roll index cards I gave them. Seem to be going in circiles!
