Duplicate ID Numbers

I have a family member where there are 2 children listed only by the last name. When I try to merge them (because they have the same birth year and place), I get a message that one of the record ID numbers matches someone who has a different name, gender, and birth year. I don't want to mess anything up, so do I continue the merge, assume both of the children were twins, or what?

    Hello Mary,

Thank you for the additional information on the duplicate ID numbers. We see the second family, for Joachim Clement Lariviere Chambly, 2SZY-VWL, does not list a spouse, but does list the same children as the one above it, which includes a spouse. The children have the same ID numbers in both lists, except for the Adelaide Clement, 1811-1811, GC51-KYK. You can remove the second group by deleting the parent-child relationship. Each child will need to be deleted separately. When all children are deleted the second record will be removed. We are enclosing the link to the Help Center article that will explain how.

We wish you success in correcting the family of Joachim Clement Lariviere Chambly.

Hi Mary. Did you check the genders of both infants. There was a time users would put both genders for deceased infants if they could not find the gender information. If you have the information needed to change the gender of one of the infants, then go ahead and change a gender then merge the infants. Otherwise leave the two as they are, please.

FYI It always helps us give better answers if we are provided ID numbers.

The main problem is that there are 2 ID numbers the same - one shows a male infant and the other ID shows a female born a completely different year.
