How do I post a comment?

I just added a document to my family tree that also resulted in me adding my maternal great grandparents to my family tree. I would like to be able to comment somewhere how I know that this information is correct. Is there a place or way to note that, perhaps near to the document??

    Please let me know!

    Sincerely,

    Kristina Telles

It sounds like you were adding a source to an individual using the Source Linker which then prompted you to create a new record for the other relatives. When you create the new person there is no where to enter a reason statement, but as you then attach the source to the record for the new person you can enter a reason statement as to why you are attaching the source and explain how you know the information to be correct.

Use the source linker to attach the historical records you find on FamilySearch to a person in Family Tree.

      Yes Kristina,

      Welcome to FamilySearch Family Tree.

The following links provide information on how to prove the ancestor is who you say they are.

What are reason statements in Family Tree?

How do I use the discussions feature in Family Tree?

How can I prevent other people from making inaccurate changes to Family Tree?

      Kristina,

You can also add information to the Life Sketch section near the top of the Details page for a person to let those who view the Details page about things you think are important about the person for whom you are concerned.

As you add Name, Birth, Place, Death and place you can add your comments as to why the document is correct. You can also add different spelllings of the name in Other Information, this way the computer will look for all spelllings of the name in the search.

Steps to add a comment on a document or picture:

go to "memories" tab on their profile. select the picture or document in the "picture" or "document" sections. it will take you to the picture/document. on the right hand side it will say "description" where you can write a description about the photo/document and also include any other comments on the photo. Or you can scroll down and underneath the photo/document next to a picture of an eye it will show these two chat clouds where you can select and write a comment too.

steps to add a comment on a source:

"Sources" tab . click on the source you want to edit. click the "edit" button. scroll down and it will say "reason I attached this source" and there will be a text box where you can write your reason. then save it.
