RE. My friend's family tree
This is a follow up to my previous question re. creating a tree for my friend's ancestors. I have talked with my friend and, apparently, she at some point did start her tree in FamilySearch, but has not been able to continue with it (due to time restraints).
So, my question is: Is there some way I can connect to her tree (from my computer) and be able to assist her by adding names of her ancestors and info. that I have been able to collect? (I know that with Ancestry there is an option where a person can connect me to their tree by "inviting" me as an "editor.")

FamilySearch is a Collaboration Tree. All deceased ancestors are public. Your friend will see the same information that you and others are adding to FamilySearch Family Tree.

In Family Search, sign on, click on "help others" in upper right corner. On the pop up window, click on "try the planner" at the bottom. On the right side under your name, click on "add someone". Enter their name, click next. Under select a method, click on "send email". Once they receive the email and give you permission, you will have access to their account for a year. It can be renewed. Family History Consultants use this to help plan for meetings with the people they are helping. It is also useful for friends helping friends. I hope this helps.

The helper function only works if you are a member of the church. Because it is a shared tree you can see all of the deceased persons in her tree. If she provides you the ID numbers of some of her deceased relatives you can start by researching them and their ancestors. If you add individuals your contact information will be attached to each of these persons so you may get questions from other users regarding sources and justification for the changes. Which ever way you wish to add information is valid and will allow your friend to see her ancestors.
