Not Sure of the Name on Line 40 of the Tax Records

Looks like it could read either "Green" or "Gran" for the first name. I'm leaning toward Gran W. Towers as the full name, but it would make it the most unique name on the list. So, anyone want to take a second look?

Thank you for your message @Maria Gabrielle Northrup it is advised that when indexing a record you enter what you see on the image. Below is a link to an article that will best help you know what to do.

Hello Maria Gabrielle. Unfortunately, the batch will not open for me. Perhaps you have submitted it. In indexing when you can't read the writing, it is often helpful to look at how the scribe formed other letters on the same record. When you can't figure out the exact spelling, we use wildcards. There is more on this in the General Indexing Guidelines under the heading Unreadable Information.

    In a nutshell:

We use a question mark for one letter: Gre?n

We use an asterisk for more than one letter: Gr*n

    Happy Indexing!
