Surnames

On this batch, you can find the Mother or Father's surname in the next to the last column with the relationship written next to them and can index the most complete version of the name. You wouldn't be able to use a surname for Father when the Mother is listed, or vice versa. So on the first entry the father's surname is blank, and the mother's surname is Albaugh. On entry 3, the Father's surname is Abshire and the mother's surname is blank. On the entry with the Grand mother as the informant, both the father's and mother's surname would be rendered blank.
This follows the 2nd Example in the Project Instructions where they indexed Thomas rather than the abbreviation of Thos. for the father's most complete name. The instruction on the example: Names may have been written in more than 1 place in the document. Look for the most complete version of the name to type in the indexing field.
