Marking document "no extractable data"
I made the mistake of thinking all four documents in a batch of naturalization records were the same kind. But two of the documents are "affidavits of witnesses." I need to mark those two as "no extractable data" but am not sure how to go back to the first screen to do that. The batch is Kansas, Naturalization Records [Part A] [M3QP-2HK]

Hello,
Before marking the documents as "no extractable data", you might want to be sure that the pages only have "affidavits of witnesses." I have seen several pages that have "affidavits of witnesses" at the top, but an "oath of allegience" - which should be indexed - at the bottom.
If you do need to change the documents to "no extractable data", there is a pull down menu for the two steps near the upper left corner of the window (just under the graphical menu bar). Choose Step 1: Images to go back to the choices for whether to index an image or not.
Hope this helps.

Image 2 and 4 are Affidavit of witnesses. The project instructions on What to Index point # 3 indicates the following:
- Do not index name change records, certificates of loyalty, certificates of arrival, affidavits of witnesses, or depositions. These images should be marked in Step 1: Images as No, No Extractable Data.
How to go back to the first screen to do that?
As the image above indicates in the upper left corner below the menu tool bar click on the field of Step 2, step 1 will be displayed, click in and the screen will change to the question: Should these image should be indexed. Clic en no, no extractable data. Start with image 1, to image 4, carefully look which image you will be declaring no extractable data (NED) because it will inform you that entries will be deleted and it is ok, we do not need them.

On Images 2 and 4 the Oath of Allegiance is at the bottom of the page. They are indexed with the name and the date. There is no record number indexed for the Oaths. (see the example in the project instructions).
Another thing to remember on these is to index the variation of names for the petitioner.
Include all aliases, nicknames, or variant names that were given for a person, separating them with the word Or.
On Image 1, notice that near the bottom of the petition you will see number 11 - My lawful entry for permanent residence in the United States was at Port Huron, Michigan under the name of Tryntje Heersche.
So, you would index the given name as Katherine or Tryntje surname: Heersche.

Teresa and Melissa are correct. All 4 images are normal. We do index the Oath of Allegiance information on the lower half of images 2 and 4.
Melissa made a great point about indexing the alias name on image 1.

You need to be in Step 1 Images to choose No Extractable Data. Notice the down arrow - you can use it to switch between Step 1 and Step 2.
