Do we when abbrievating names and all there is, is an initial? Do we (see below)
Do we when abbreviating names and all there is, is an initial? Do we put a dot to signify the shortened name? I am not abbreviating anything. But I am signifying the shortened word.

Thanks for sharing your batch, Zachary.
YES, in this project you enter ALL the punctuation per the field helps:
"In this project, include all punctuation when typing names and place-names."
So, you do type what you see, including the periods after abbreviations and initials.
Also, the father's name in the first one is Given Name: Geo P. Surname: Arey
You can use the final column when it says father to index the most complete name. You wouldn't index the initial of the middle name as a surname. (Your indexer was correct, they just didn't place the periods after the initials on these).
The father's residence state is blank. There isn't the word Virginia anywhere in that column.

- According to the General Indexing Guidelines we are to Type names as they were written. Do not correct misspellings or expand abbreviations unless directed otherwise in the project instructions. So based on this information you would not want to put a dot after the initial. We are to type what we see.
We hope that has answered your question on this.
