Hello, I am trying to review a batch which is formatted for census records, but the document is for deaths. Therefore the info available doesn't match what can be entered. Please advise. Deutschland, Preußen, Sachsen—Volkszählungen, 1770–1934 [Teil B][MMVB-TN1, Thanks.

Thank you for sharing your batch. The first instruction is:

    • Index all census records. Other types of documents should be marked in Step 1: Images as No, No Extractable Data.

Here is a Help Center Article that should be helpful:

How should I index a batch that contains mixed record types?

An indexing project should contain just one record type. Once in awhile, however, a record of the wrong type ends up in a batch of records you are working on. For example, you might find a marriage record in a batch of birth records.

In this situation, you should indicate that the wrong record type contains no extractable data. For example, in a project of birth records, you should mark a marriage record as "no extractable data."

These skipped records will then be grouped into future indexing projects so that no information is lost. Thank you for your help in maintaining the quality and accuracy of our records.

    Steps

    1. Read the project name and the project instructions to find out what type of record the project contains.
    2. Review each image in the batch, and indicate whether it contains extractable data. If you find an image with a the wrong record type, click No, No Extractable Data.
    3. If you find the wrong record type later while indexing, do this:
      1. Click Step 2: Entries.
      2. Click Step 1: Images.
      3. No, No Extractable Data

Although I am just a volunteer and not a familysearch rep, I hope this will help.

I opened a shared batch and can't read German. However, I agree that if this is a register for deaths the proper procedure is listed above. What to Index>First bullet point directs: "Index all census records. Other types of documents should be marked in Step 1: Images as No, No Extractable Data."

You should follow Melissa Himes instructions and move on to another batch. Thank you so much for your service reviewing these records.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought I knew without reading the instructions. Sorry.
