See below for full question
I have a person who died. Their parents have the same last name. Do we assume that the maiden name is really the same. Or do we put a blank. I find it highly unlikely two parents have the same last names.
It seems irresponsible to assume and we seem to be doing that by putting the maiden name recorded same as the father's.
This does not seem to happen a lot but sometimes. I just want to record the best information we have.

Hello @zacharyboydcampbell1
Good post.
Likely they do not have the same last name, as you noted. But I have seen it in areas where the communities are small and lots of people are related. My friend has that in her line in Manhattan. Makes things difficult.
I did check M335-LPH out and there doesn't seem to be a wife attached. When I have this issue, I put the wife in with first name and I do not type a last name in the last name place. I leave it blank.
I do however, put the last name that is like her husbands' in the Other Information, click on Add Information, click on Add Alternate Name. The algorithms will search for that name also.
Other Information is located on the left side of the person page.
After doing that I do a thorough search for sources. I did see in Family Tree a person with the same name as M335-LPH, and a wife named with the same last name as his.
You could go to the person page for M335-LPH, then do a search by clicking on the FamilySearch Search link on the left side of the person page.
Let us know if this is helpful.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
