Hi -- I found this record on Ancestry of an ancestor but I can't find it on FamilySearch using my usual tricks.

https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/23998239?h=76cc66

Location:

Fort Union in the precint of Golondrinas in the county of Mora, in New Mexico Territory

Post Office: Fernando de Taos

Is it possible that some of the more obscure New Mexico records haven't been indexed yet?

Thoughts/Ideas?

Thanks!

Here is how to find the record of (Miss) Rose McFarran in the 1860 US Census for New Mexico (Territory) and attach it to her FS page:

Go to Search (Historical Records), then "Research by Location". Click on USA, then select "New Mexico".

Next, click on "Show All 76" and then click the text "United States Census, 1860", not the box. When that window opens, go to the bottom and click on "Browse through 703,834 images". Drill down to "New Mexico territory/Mora Territory/Not Stated", then go to image 23 of 141, where you will find "Rose McFarran".

You will notice that the records have not been indexed (note that the FS images are much harder to read than those on Ancestry).

Finally, click on the blue box "Attach to Family Tree", in the upper right-hand corner to attach the record to your Rose McFarran.

(How many other FS-held census records have not been indexed????)
