I am working on a batch of birth records and I am uncertain what to enter as "birth place". The image lists District and Village. Which do I enter as birth place? Or is this similar to city and county and both should be listed?

You're definitely on the right track

Since Samoan districts consist of several villages, you'll follow the small-to-large rule and type VILLAGE, DISTRICT

And since the system reads from left-to-right, make sure to separate the two with a comma as well so the system recognizes what you're saying

    Hope this helped :)

So would this birth place be entered as:

    Faletagaloa, Safune, Gagaifomauga

or is Safune larger than Gagaifomauga? Should I reverse the placement of Safune and Gagaifomauga, like this:

    Faletagaloa, Gagaifomauga, Safune

    I think you are correct!

Sometimes you have to do a search to find out how these work. I found this on a website called mapcarta.

"Faletagaloa is a village on the central north coast of Savai'i island in Samoa. The village is in the traditional sub-district of Safune in the Gagaifomauga electoral division."
