I am working on a batch of Massachusetts death certificates and there are 2 "registered" numbers. There is one for place of death and another for residence. There is also a stamped number at the top. Which number do I use?

It is helpful if you share your batch to get a good answer. To share a batch click on the third icon from the right and follow the instructions. Usually there is only one registration number on these. The stamped number at the top in the right hand corner is usually the page number. The examples show the number next to the words Registered Number. So it is hard to answer without seeing what you are seeing.

Also, you should consider joining the group Indexing Chat where there are thousands of indexers asking and answering questions. It is a great group!
