I am indexing Alaska marriages. I came across a Marriage License Docket with all of the information for both parties then it stated that they were not Married.
How do I handle this information
I have not worked on this particular project but would say you would handle it like "crossed out information". If information was crossed out and not replaced, type the crossed-out information.
I would index the information even though it says they were not married.
The researcher will see the document and know what to do with that information.
Ellona Adell, I suggest you join the Indexing Group. Go to the left column of this page and click on Groups. Scroll down to Indexing and click on that box. Then you have to JOIN. There is a blue button with the word JOIN on it. It is below the gray bar that goes horizontally across the page about 1/4 of the way down from the top.
@Quintana Ellona Adell if you have any other questions that Lisa Kay Horlacher helped you with, I would like to give you the following link to the Indexing chat as they will be able to help you as well.
You still index the information unless the project instructions tell you precisely not to (which would be rare). This falls under the General Indexing Guidelines for:
When information was crossed out, corrected, canceled, or marked void, follow the instructions for “crossed out” that match the situation.
