Definition of maiden name
Dies maiden name refer to the last name of a woman from her childhood, or the first and last?

Technically it seems it is referring to the Surname before marriage - based on various definitions on line.
but I know plenty of people who use the term Maiden name - to mean the full name of a women before she was married.
In my opinion - its "splitting hairs" as to whether it really means just the surname or both the first and last name.
