URL-encoding (percent encoding) appears in the comments when attaching records.

This is a recent issue. It happens consistently. I am using the Chrome browser and it is up-to-date.

Example, M5HX-TQY.

I attached a census record to members of this family and included (in the "Reason This Source Is Attached" section) the comment, "1880 US Census. George CRANCE, wife Anna, and one child at Van Etten, Chemung Co, NY."

When viewing in Sources, the comment appears, "1880%20US%20Census.%20George%20CRANCE%2C%20wife%20Anna%2C%20and%20one%20child%20at%20Van%20Etten%2C%20Chemung%20Co%2C%20NY."

The encoding makes the comment difficult to read. How do I eliminate this behavior so I can include useable content in the "Reason" section?

Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

    .

This "HTML Encoding" Problem/Issue was recently reported in a recent post ...

    .

    (General) Question ... [ SAME as yours ... ]

@Lynette Marie LAWRENCE ... [ who I have now just 'Mentioned' in your post ]

Language Erosion Attaching Sources 2-3 February 2021???

Is anyone else having difficulty with language attaching sources yesterday and today? For example, I type "United States Census, 1910, Household of Jacob L Davis (Head)," and the program changes it to "United%20States%20Census%2C%201910%0AHousehold%20of%20Jacob%20L%20Davis%20(Head)."

    .

I have NOT experienced the problem/issue as at present I am NOT attaching USA Census'

    .

It looks like this is a Problem/Issue with regard to Census' from the USA.

    .

    Now ...

    That said ...

    .

Can I humbly suggest that, if, you BOTH have not already done so; then, the best place to, propose 'Ideas' (eg. suggested enhancements); or, report 'Problems'/'Issues' [ such as YOURS ], relating to "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' (or, for that matter, ANY "Part" of 'FamilySearch') is in the (New) "IDEAS' ('Feedback') Forum, which is currently, on a separate platform, within this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    .

    Ideas Forum _ latest _ 31 October 2020 _ Add Idea _ circled.

Here is the direct 'link' to that (New) "IDEAS' ('Feedback') Forum:

    https://community.familysearch.org/s/idea/Idea/Default

    .

The (New) "IDEAS' ('Feedback') Forum can also be accessed from the 'Bottom', of just about, any page/screen, through (by accessing) the "Feedback" 'Link'.

    .

Feedback _ Bottom of Landing or Home page or Screen _ 0 _ 7 January 2021.

Where a "Pop-Up" (aka: "Modal") 'Window' will appear ...

    .

Where you select, the "Go to Discussion Board" ('Button'/''link'), under the "Community Discussion".

    .

Feedback _ Bottom of Landing or Home page or Screen _ 2 _ 7 January 2021.

The (NEW) "IDEAS" Forum is MONITORED by "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives" (eg. Product Managers; and, Engineers/Developers) responsible for the "Design" and "Development" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

    I hope this helps.

@Brett ., Thank you, that's new for me; I appreciate the pictures! I will try that. I was hoping the HTML encoding would resolve itself or the Sunday night update would fix it, but nope. This happens when attaching ALL sources, not limited to the census. (I restarted my computer, have all software up to date, have tried both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers, same as I've always used without incident . . . until this past week.)

    @Lynette Marie LAWRENCE

    .

    Lynette

    .

@Jane Storer indicated in your actual POST that she submitted a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case.

    .

IF, BOTH, you; and, 'Alice' submit a Problem/Issue in the (New) "IDEAS' ('Feedback') Forum, that SHOULD 'cover all bases'.

    .

    But ...

    That said ...

    .

It could not hurt for, BOTH, you; and, 'Alice', to submit 'FamilySearch' "Support" Cases, as well - the more, merrier ...

    .

You never know ... it MIGHT get ACTIONED that much faster ...

    .

    Good Luck.

    .

Hi, Brett. I tried to "report 'Problems'/'Issues'," but apparently that Support form is intended only for issues related to my "Account." No other options were available, so I was unable to complete the form.

Hopefully the Ideas forum post will get a response. Thank you for your efforts, Brett.

    @Alice 1956

    .

    Alice

    .

'NO', that 'FamilySearch' "Support" System ...

IS for ANY Problem/Issue, such as Yours.

    .

That "System" is NOT limited to just one's 'FamilySearch' Account

    .

    ANYTHING ...

    .

    Select that 'Down' "Arrow" ...

That gives a number of "Categories" ...

Choose the "Category" that suits best (ie. closest).

    .

    eg.

    .

    Support Case _ Category _ 0.

    I hope this helps.

Hooray! It's fixed! We're back in business! And just as unexpectedly as the problem came, it simply was gone.... 😀

Thank you, @Brett ., for all your help!
