Why is it that when someone else has put in information some one else can come in and
I like doing my research but when I have to keep adding information or when others have added its gets very discouraging to actually want to trust the Church with my family information specially when I know a lot of out side folks are getting into the records from the Vaults which my own family has entrusted those vaults to be secure for the future generations information gathering. I see the wrong people using my family information to generate many good for their own use and gains and that is not good at all.

It is a collaborative tree and we should all work together. I have found if the information is correct and the sources support the information with good reason statements, less changes happen.
There are actually more non members who use FamilySearch than there are members. it is encouraged for us to keep our own copy of our tree information on your home computer in private software.
There are no trees in vaults just records such as birth, marriage, death,(most of what you find in the FamilySearch catalog) temple records, etc kept in those vaults. The FamilyTree is not a vault, but a constantly growing and changing collaborative effort.

Please be aware ...
.
Most new (and, some old) Users/Patrons DO NOT understand the basic nature and premise of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', when they join in.
.
Please let me explain ...
.
We do not have our OWN "Tree" in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
We ONLY have "Branches" (ie. Ancestral" lines), that are interconnected, in this SINGLE "One" World "Tree", for all of us, that is "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is NOT like 'On-Line' "Websites" (eg. "Ancestry_com"; or "MyHeritage_com"; or, the like); and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes (eg, the OLD, now no longer supported, "PAF"; or, "Ancestral Quest"; or, the like).
.
We DO NOT have "Private"/"Personal" 'Trees' in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' like other 'On-Line' "Websites"; and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes.
.
We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
And, in fact, we do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, our OWN "Deceased" Ancestors in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
We can certainly "Watch"/"Follow" them in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; and, address/fix any 'wayward' alterations; but, that is it.
.
"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why any registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
Furthermore ...
.
There is one thing that you can do ...
.
You can "Watch"/"Follow" your "Ancestral" lines; and, IMMEDIATELY, address/fix any ('wayward') "Changes", as they occur, by 'well meaning' Users/Patrons.
.
That is what I do; and, I check the "List" of "Changes" of those that I "Watch"/"Follow", at least TWICE (x2) each day, to keep on top, rather than waiting for any notification of such changes from 'FamilySearch'.
.
Plus ...
.
Many Users/Patrons, who use "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', STILL maintain their own SEPARATE personal/private "Database(s)" of their "Ancestral" lines, well away from "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; so that, they CANNOT be access by other people.
.
I know that this does not help; but, I hope this gives you some more perspective.
.
Plus ...
.
Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch':
.
How can I prevent other people from making inaccurate changes to Family Tree?
