I am curious because I see some things on my own person tree in the Atkins line that went all the way back to 1300 BC. I am not usually a skeptical person, but I think a little something may not be right here. Likewise, I only copied the oldest entry with dates there were two more going back without dates

    .

    MANY will 'Scoff' ...

    [ and, let them ... ]

    .

In "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' ...

    .

Some "Ancestral' Lines go back all the way back to 'Adam' and 'Eve' ...

[ And, there are a FEW, versions, of 'Adam' and 'Eve' ... ]

    .

Some are well "Researched" (ie. "Documented"; and "Sourced"); whereas, some are not so much.

    .

I am (and, in some cases, was) lucky enough to have some such "Ancestral" lines.

    .

It is certainly possible, if your "Ancestral" lines are extensive enough; and, you descend from 'Royal'/'Noble' "Ancestral" lines.

    .

There is, "Documentation"; and "Sources", for 'Royal'/'Noble' "Ancestral" lines ...

Certainly, NOT always for the 'peasants' ...

    .

    But ...

    That said ...

    .

    One must be lucky ...

I consider myself one of the lucky few ...

NOT everyone is so lucky ...

    .

    As an aside ...

    .

For Members of the Church, ANY "Temple" Work, that we want to do for our Ancestors past the 1500's; MUST, be verified by 'FamilySearch'; BEFORE, being able/allowed to proceed with the "Temple" Work for our Ancestors.

    .

    I hope this helps.

    .

    Brett

    .

ps: I DO NOT want to get into a "Debate" over this, so lets NOT, I just providing some information.

    .

As Brett says, there are a number of branches that go way back in time - including those "Adam and Eve" ones. However, whether they have been verified, or not, is another matter. Look carefully and you will probably find branches including mythical kings & queens and even cartoon characters. "The Devil" even had his own page / ID in Family Tree before it was eventually taken down!

In short, I would not worry about statistics and Family Tree entries, as few branches going over a thousand years back can probably be verified. The furthest back I've reached in my 35 years of research is an ancestor who died in 1483, and I was only fortunate to get back that far due to a long series of wills, throughout the generations, that listed children, siblings and even in-laws. Having a line containing "nobility" would certainly help in any quest to trace ancestry much further back into the Middle Ages, however.

Theres really nothing stopping people from entering whatever fact or fiction records they want.

Thus all the records back beyond like 1000 AD or so all the way back to Adam and Eve - that have no foundation in supporting documents. . .

OF course - we highjly encourgae people to include supporting documents for whatever they enter and we want thte databsse to be be as accurate as possible . . but its an open system - and only so much that can be done to prevent people from entering unsupported facts/lines.

also keep in mind - - FS FT - is a single collaborative family tree database that we all share.

Its not like Ancestry where each person has their own private tree.

most all of us of Europeen descent - eventually do tie into these lines that many have traced so far back. - usually based on Royal Lines that go back to William The Conqueror and others. (whether we know the exact connections or have proof - is another question)

Thanks, that was my concern too. It is hard enough to document in modern times.
