I have a question on using the Memories Gallery and having photos and documents in my own memories.
etc. and that I want to attach into my own page information or other family members.
I am a fairly new Chruch Service Missionary at Riverton FamilySearch Libray. I was trying to attach something the other day and was having some difficulties. I asked another Sister missionary to help me. As we looked at my own memories, she was quite surprised, and even a little upset, that I had photos and/or documents on my page that were actually about others and not just myself. For example, photos or other pertinent information about my parents, or my deceased husband, etc. Now I also have these on their own individual pages, but I like having them on my own page for reference, memorbilia, etc. She said I am not supposed to have any other persons photos, memories, documents, etc on my page as it does not relate to me and I was wrong in doing this. She was quite adamant about it.
Personally, I was quite taken back by her response. As it is my memories, my geneologies, related to me in all sorts of different ways, I politely disagreed with her and finally just said, well, I guess that is a personal preference and I like it that way. She didn't feel like that was correct but kind of shrugged and let it be.
My question is, am I wrong in feeling this way? Is there a "properor preferred" way of storing, preserving and sharing and keeping these memories? Am I ok to have a personal preference? I do want to do the correct methods for preservation and handling and clarification of these memories. Thank you for your feedback.

There two levels of your interaction with the memories you upload to FamilySearch. ALL the memories you upload or create are placed in your Gallery. These will be memories about you, and all your extended family. Then these memories are are tagged to the individuals that are actually in the memories.
Memories really should only be linked to the people in them. Remember that these memories are available to all people and to have say my mother's Baptist baptism certificate tagged to me and available in my personal memories makes no real sense. The memories on my personal record in tree should be directly linked to me. That is how the system is set up. For no though it makes no difference in your case as you are living and no one will see the links to you on any memories. But once you are deceased then everyone will see these links and it could be a source of confusion.
The one good thing in this situation is anyone could then come around and unlink you from the memories that don't really include you. I have had to do that when people incorrectly linked memories to the wrong person.
