Need help locating parents/birth info for SARAH ANN BOBO b 1813 and husband WILLIAM REYNOLDS b 1794
Sarah Ann Bobo (born 1813 per her marriage cert and census records) married William Reynolds (born 1794 per census records and his War of 1812 pension request papers) were married in Elberton, GA on 6 June 1824. The compiled marriage cert erroneously shows his birth year as 1796.
This Sarah Ann Bobo has been erroneously assigned to parents Benjamin B Bobo and Mary Parks. That couple had a son in May 1813 named Willis. Sarah Ann Bobo's birthdate has been listed as 6 June 1813, so there is no way they can be her parents. In other places, her mother is listed as Sarah Highsmith, but she was the 2nd wife of Benjamin B Bobo, after the death of his wife Mary Parks Bobo in 1819. Sarah Ann Bobo was only 11 years old when she married, so her parents had to have been nearby.
There was a Sarah Ann Bobo who lived in Jones, GA whose reference data also has been erroneously assigned to the Sarah Ann Bobo married to William Reynolds. They are not the same person. That Sarah married a gentleman in Jones, GA and had her own family there.
There was also a Sara C Bobo, born in South Carolina who moved to Arkansas and was married to someone else entirely. I have seen her data intermixed with the record of Sarah Ann Bobo Reynolds.
William Reynolds carries very little known facts: he was born in Virginia in 1794 (per he him), he fought in the War of 1812 when he was 17, he lived in Elberton, GA and then Rome, Floyd County, Georgia until his death on 13 Nov 1879. He was a farmer with slaves. I have no other information about his whereabouts prior to marrying Sarah Ann Bobo.
Sarah Ann Bobo and William Reynolds lived in Elberton, GA for quite a few years before moving to Floyd County, GA where their last child Molly Reynolds was born. Many other Bobos also moved to Floyd County, including Benajamin B Bobo and his family.
We believe Sarah died sometime between Aug 1860-July 1870 since she did not appear on the Aug 1870 census with William and Molly Reynolds. Many have listed her year of death as 1870, but that has not been validated.
We do not know where they are buried in Floyd County, GA.
I have sent enquiries to the Elberton, GA geneology group.
I have downloaded and scoured the Centennial Reyolds Family history from 1600-1800 and neither this William nor Sarah appear there either.
I have their descendants all documented as they lead down to me.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Tracy.

Wow, you have done a fantastic job of looking for these ancestors and where they are buried. I am sure you looked at the Wiki article under Floyd county, Georgia cemeteries. Other than that, using the Elberton, GA genealogy group is a great idea. Having “on the ground” people in the area may be your best bet for finding their grave site. I also found that genealogybank.com has a free 7 day trial that you might want to take advantage of. I noticed they have Floyd County, Georgia cemetery records as well as newspapers from that time. Best of luck in your search.

Wow! You have a lot going on with this branch of your family. Would you consider sharing with me an ID number for either Sarah Ann or William so I may look at your Family Tree and see what is going on?
I have searched and located a Sarah Ann Bobo in Georgia, on Ancestry.com, though the year is off and Spouse is listed as a Gresham. Do you have children's names? As you can see, getting a chance to take a look at the tree would be of help. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sure ! I am sorry I overlooked including it before. I had to totally re-enter this question today after the one I put in last night vanished overnight!!
My tree id is LYT9-38P
That Gresham that you see married to a Sarah C Bobo from SC is not her - they were in AR.
Have a look...I have the tree from them down to me on FamilySearch - it pretty much matches my tree on Ancestry (which I recently made private while I work on tidying it up but can give you guest access if you need it, too)

On the 1860 Census, she is in Barkers, Floyd, Georgia. William Reynolds is 66, and there are 3 people there at the time of the Census:
William Beck, 21
Amanda Reynolds, 18
Mary Reynolds, 14
William is listed as a Farmer, both Sarah and Amanda as Domestic's, Mary at 14 does not have an occupation. William Beck is a Laborer probably hired on at the farm.
Hope this helps!

I did find this on one of the children: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/59595651/benjamin-bobo
There is a Bobo Cemetery in Georgia, in Floyd Georgia, here is the link: https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/32913/bobo-cemetery

The record you saw for William and Sarah Ann Bobo with all of their children is my complete record. The 1870 census that you saw with only William and their remaining daughter Amanda was the census after Sarah Ann (Sallie) had died. Amanda had not yet married and all the others had. There is no electronic cemetery info on file for William or his Sarah Ann. William Reynolds was born in 1794, NOT 1796 which is confirmed by his age on every census he is recorded on and on his death registry for Floyd County.
My Sarah Ann Bobo is NOT the daughter of Benjamin B Bobo and his first wife Mary Parks either. They bore a son in May 1813 and Sarah Ann was born in June 1813.
The Sarah Bobo who is a daughter of Benjamin Bobo and Sarah Highsmith is NOT the Sarah married to William Reynolds. Their Sarah was born after 1824 and died in 1825.
She is not the daughter of Burell Bobo and Susannah Highsmith either.
There was yet another Sarah Ann Bobo who was the daughter born abt 1842 and died 1888 - she was the daughter of Willis Bobo (who WAS the son of Benjamin B Bobo and Mary Parks, the one born in May 1813).
The Bobo Cemetery is not accessible to the public - it's road is chained off. There is a Find A Grave list of graves and none of those are my Sarah Bobo. There is no record of William or Sarah Ann at the New Prospect Baptist Church where many of the rest of that Reynolds family is buried either.
Also, almost every record at Ancestry for Sarah Ann Bobo born 1813 erroneously has Benjamin B and Mary Parks or Sarah Highsmith as her parents. They were NOT.

I'll go back and retrace my steps and see if I can find the information I had. I think Vanilla has an issue as responses to emails are not getting through. I did find the Sisters, and who their parents are. That was the information I was wondering if you had received. I'll keep at it. We have to find something. Be sure to look through the Bobo Cemetery and see who is buried there. I have not had time this weekend, I will try today. I keep hoping there is someone buried there who will be of help!
As William Reynolds was in the War of 1812, is he buried in a military cemetery?
And even though Sarah Ann was a Reynolds by marriage, she could still be buried in the Bobo Cemetery .It would be worth giving it a look.

I have already thoroughly explored the Bobo Cemetery info a few months ago - the cemetery is about 10 minutes from my house and, as I said, it's chained off from public access; and other Bobos all over Floyd County - there are no ties to my Sarah here in Floyd County except her husband William and their children/descendants. We have to go back to Elberton, GA for her and South Carolina but NOTHING usable showed up there either (so far)...all of the Sarah Ann Bobos documented there married and died in SC or married and moved to other states (not GA). The resources in Hart County, GA have also not turned up anything.

I was rereading the 1900 census for Willis Heard Reynolds, son of William Reynolds and Sarah Ann Bobo (his headstone birthdate and birthdate on the census do not match!). Anyway, I thought to look at the birthplace of his mother and father - while they wrote them backwards it appears he told them his mother was born in South Carolina. This is the first year the census included more details like residents birth month and year and parental origins. Assuming it's correct, I guess we can narrow our search for Sarah Ann Bobo's parents back to SC...although she's still a needle in a haystack of Bobos.
