Duplicate Photos

Cary Holmquist said: This happens to me and although it is not such a “bad” thing, it does take up my time unnecessarily, unless the duplicates’ posters have added some kind of details in Description or an accompanying Stories attachment, etc. Unfortunately, the latter very rarely happens, which is probably another topic entirely. A few times, when I have inadvertently tried to add a Photo that I previously uploaded —but forgot I had done so— a warning popped up to alert me. This is because, I suspect, the meta-data that accompanies the photo from my hard drive database was with the initial upload as well and so FamilySearch’s algorithms noted that match and sent the warning, thus preventing me from completing the duplication error. This may not happen when other photos are added that, though essentially are the same image, but are coming from different databases and so have different meta-data, and so do not capture the attention of the duplication-warning algorithms.....0

I'm having the same problem. I tried adding 6 new photos and it will not let me, saying they are duplicates but they are NOT.

Where are you attempting to upload the photos - in Tree (Person's Memories tab) or in Gallery? It should not tell you they are duplicates if they aren't. Sometimes - even if you are just trying to resize the photo - it's still a duplicate if it's already uploaded. Take a look in the Gallery to determine if you are attempting to upload duplicates:

Perhaps you have already uploaded it and just need to attach it to multiple person IDs?
