Hilde Bender said: Johann Zose is spelled wrong for my grandfather, you have Zoserl. My grandparents are Johann Zose and Gertrud Agnitsch. Great grandparents Mathias Zose and Maria Tramposch. Eliminate the Johann Zoserl and it Will make sense. I have tried correcting, but it just added another Johann.

@DeborahCarl is correct that there may be many variations of spelling for names of the same person depending on who recorded the information. These various versions can be listed as Alternate Names. To select the specific spelling that you want to have appear on the record of the person, go to the individual page for person, click on Edit next to the name, make the desired changes and click save. If your efforts to make the correction have resulted in multiple records for your grandfather, you will want to merge those so that there is only one record for him.

Don't get hung up on spelling. Often we find variations on a name. Under Other Information add them as Alternate Names.

    Deborah

I note this post is nearly 11 months old - obviously carried over from the old website. You appear to be answering a lot of similar posts - nothing wrong with that, as the subjects are usually just as topical now and your responses might help other users, too.

However, I am interested as to whether these posts were ever originally responded to, or if the responses have not been carried over (in the last week or so) with the original queries.

@Paul W I just discovered the Communities and I enthusiastically went looking for questions that had not been answered that I felt qualified to comment on.

@DeborahCarl That's great. I've probably answered a few of these myself. It's a shame that the original posters of the queries have probably gone away, having long given up hope of ever getting a response!

However, I'm sure your comments are proving most useful to other users. Also, it shows how many issues remain unresolved. True, some relate to the inexperience of the users, but others are down to "fixes" that still need to be implemented by FamilySearch.
