FamilySearch does not provide an option to delete your family tree to start over. The FamilySearch Family Tree is a single collaborative tree intended to connect the entire human family.

If you find errors in Family Tree, you can make corrections and attach sources to support your changes. See the articles linked below to learn how.

    Linda

    .

    You are not aone ...

We were all new once ...

We all made lost of mistakes, to start with, some still do ...

    .

    FYI

    .

You CANNOT really "Delete" your "Tree" in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch'; as, you DO NOT have a "Tree" there, ONLY "Ancestral" Lines.

    .

I will address that later ...

    .

Question: WHAT have you 'messed' up?

    .

    Give us the basic situation/circumstance.

    .

We may be able to help/advise; so that, you can address/fix things.

    .

There is a wealth of experience in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    Linda

    .

    Following on ...

    .

    Furthermore ...

    .

Most new (and, some old) Users/Patrons DO NOT understand the basic nature and premise of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', when they join in.

    .

    Please let me explain ...

    .

We do not have our OWN "Tree" in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

We ONLY have "Branches" (ie. Ancestral" lines), that are interconnected, in this SINGLE "One" World "Tree", for all of us, that is "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is NOT like 'On-Line' "Websites" (eg. "Ancestry_com"; or "MyHeritage_com"; or, the like); and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes (eg, the OLD, now no longer supported, "PAF"; or, "Ancestral Quest"; or, the like).

    .

We DO NOT have "Private"/"Personal" 'Trees' in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' like other 'On-Line' "Websites"; and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes.

    .

We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, our "Deceased" Ancestors (ie. "Ancestral" lines) in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'. We can certainly Watch/Follow them; and, address/fix any 'wayward' "Changes"; but, that is all.

    .

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why any registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

    I hope this helps.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Right now I am just too confused with it to even explain. It seems that there are mistakes in the order of ancestors/relations and "smart finds" that do not relate to my family as far as I know, but I will get back to you on that.

    Linda

    Take a break ...

    Take your time ...

Come back when you are ready ...

Things can be addressed/fixed, one set at a time ...

If you look at the "Big Picture", it can be too overwhelming ...

Small Steps ... Bay Steps ... you will get there ...
