Did he actually receive Social Secueirty Benefits?

The most probable reason is that certain submissions since a given date have not been updated. The SSDI database is not a databsse that has continually been updated up till now.

It stopped being updated (in FS) around the time your father died.

I would imagine though that you may still be able to get records - if they exist - directly from the SS administaration.

The US SSDI on FamilySearch is current through February 28, 2014. https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1202535

yes - but Im not sure that technically means that a person who died in 2013 - necessarily means they are for sure to be in the file.

I think it simply means - whatever version of the file existed in Feb 2014 is what we have.

what rules controlled what was in that file at that time . . . Im not sure.

Amy, would you be willing to share the PID of your father from the FamilySearch Family Tree? I'd like to see if I can find the record of your father in the US SSDI.
