When was the person born? Can you give us his name, birthdate and place, and/or ID number? This will make it easier for us to give you ideas.

Do you know what religion they were? Here is a ink to the FamilySearch Catalog for Iowa County, Wisconsin. Highland is a city in that county. There is one listing for church records. Look at that and the vital records. I think they are later than the years you are looking for. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&placeId=200694&query=+place:"United States, Wisconsin, Iowa"&subjectsOpen=1168049-50,350703-50

    .

    FYI

    .

That 'Group', where you posted, being "How to Use FamilySearch Community", in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, is more to do with HOW to USE the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, rather than for help/assistance regarding Research.

    .

    As such ...

    .

I am "Moving" this 'Question' of yours, in the 'Group' being "How to Use FamilySearch Community", in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, to the 'Group' being "General Questions", in the Forum; so that, the members of that group can answer/assist you.

    .

    And ...

    As an aside ...

    .

I am ALSO "Tagging" this 'Question' of yours, to the 'Group' being "United States Genealogy Research", in the hope that, the members of those groups may be able to answer/assist you.

    .

That Group is "Public", which you can join, if you wish.

    .

    I hope this helps.

    Carol,

His name was James Allen. My gg gmthr, Elizabeth (Lizzie - G46X-6SX) McGrath names him as the father to my

g gthr, James Jay or JJ (LVZ(_SBY). According to verbal stories, James and Lizzie were moving and in Chicago when he disappeared. I have found records of James' family living in Highland, WI at the same time that Lizzie's family lived there, but no actual record linking these two together.

Thank you for the link, I will explore it.

Also, Lizzie's family was Catholic. Her last name, McGrath, is pronounced McGraw.
