@MarinaQuick MarinaQuick - I am assuming that you saw the reference to M D Faulkerer in Tree as a person who has added data/people there. The name is in blue meaning it is a hot link. Just find a reference to the person (him or her) and click on it. You may be given an email address you can send your question to or you will be offered a link where you can send an internal message to the person. Good luck!

Thank You for your kindness Robert, I have tried this and it came up ' contact' or ' message' this person which I have done, as yet no reply. My Grandfathers year of death was added by them in 2013 so they either knew him or were related, they hold the key to unlocking where my Grandfather disappeared to from 1939 - 1960. He is or was my very elderly mother's father and he vanished from her life when she was just 6 or 7 ...she never heard or saw him again. The German red cross managed to trace him and his second wife as far as 1947 but he just vanished then!??. This person M D Faulkerer must know something to know that he died in 1960. Imagine being a little girl of 6 or 7 and your ' Daddy' vanishing .....if I could only crack this case for my mother before she dies so she can rest peacefully, I fear time is running out now as she is 88 and frail, if I can just locate this person I can unlock the secrets , crack the case. Thank you for your kindness in replying and helping me, Kindest Regards, Marina Quick x

@MarinaQuick MarinaQuick - Many users of FamilySearch do not use the community. Also many are not good at returning messages. Please reply with what specific info you know on this grandfather (name, birth date/place, death info, where he lived, and whatever you can (protecting your privace as you wish) and please let us see if we can help you. . Give us a chance to help you - that is why we are here. I think I see your grandfather in Tree - Kurt Walter Werner Johne ID KH39-1GL. Assuming he probably died in Germany - do you have any guess where?

Hi Robert, gosh I am blown away by your kindness and offer to help me (I am crying here at your kindness!). No his date of death wasn't 2013 that was just when this information by this ' mystery person' was added under my Grandfathers details. These is ALL of the information that I have on my Grandfather. He was born in Berlin (i can find out the district if that will help but it was Prussia ) on September 8th 1902 his name was Kurt Walter werner Johne, he was illegitimate, his mother Elissabeth anna Kubusch born Berlin 25th december 1884. She married a Mr Johne whom I assume ' adopted' Kurt which is why he had the name Johne on official documents. Kurt married my Grandmother Anna Emma Eliesabeth Lehmann (DOB = 6th April 1894) in 1931 (this was her second husband). My mother was born on August 31st 1932 Anneliese Johne.
Her father (the man in question) vanished from my mothers life about 1939, he was in the Army as he was imprisoned for 3 months for criticising Hitlers invasion of Czecslovakia (spelling!?) . We know that he definitely divorced my Grandmother because the German Red Cross traced him to 1947 when he had remarried a Charlotte Dutschmann who was born in Berlin? in 1913. It is after 1947 that he totally vanishes, no trace of him can be found?? My mother has spent her whole life wondering where her Father was, It was only on joining this site (well My Heritage) and filing in my basic family tree that I noticed that this M D Faukerer had filled in or rather added the information that my Granddad had died in 1960, this information was added in 2013. They must either be related or at very least know or rather knew my Grandfather otherwise where and how would they know what year he died in?? ..alas there was no full date of his death nor where just 1960. I haven't a clue how to proceed or where to look. The British Red cross looked into it for me, The German Red Cross did and they traced him until 1947 and the name of his second wife but got no further, The International tracing service couldn't trace him but sent me a copy of his prison index card. I joined Ancestry and had my DNA analysed and the same with 23 and me, this has now been going on for 5 years, I no longer have Ancestry membership. This site ' Family Search' has been simply amazing and I have gotten further than I ever dreamed I would do (on my Hungarian fathers side too). Any other information I can give you just contact me via this site or my email james.quick@ntlworld.com If you can find out where Granddad was between 1947 - 1960 and in which country he died that would be simply amazing. I thank you genuinely from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, as I say I have cried over your kindness, Thank you, Thank You (more than you could know) , Marina x

Hi Robert, I wondered if you had managed to get any further on my Grandfathers death date ...Kurt Walter Werner Johne? On one document his year of death has been added by this mysterious M D Faukerer 201869 (in blue lettering whom I have contacted without success 4 times) BUT on another of my Grandfather's documents by his date or rather year of death 1960 it states added by Family Search'!/ ...I am confused!, someone must have details on who filled in his year of death and therefore must have more information on it?. I have tried every which way possible and am just going round in circles here, I even contacted Baerbel and again today with the hope that someone can solve this once and for all. I am fearful that my mother is in the last few months of life and to give her answers before she dies would mean so much. I am also worried as the Covid pandemic is so bad here in the UK despite been in full lockdown the numbers are increasing in the city where I live, I have not dare leave the house for 3 weeks now. Please anything you can do to help find out where Grandfather died (which country) and or where he was from 1947 - 1960 would solve the puzzle, people cannot just disappear for all those years and then someone add on the death year in 2012 as being 1960, someone somewhere knows something. Thank You for all your kindness, Marina Quick

Marina - I will defer to Barabel when it comes to the actual research as I am not a professional German researcher like her. We (well especially my wife who researches extensively in Germany) know Barabel well and she is wonderful and a great researcher.
In looking at your Kurt I noticed that there are actually two of him in Tree. Both records appear to have been made by that mdfaulkener person. BTW - the 2012 dates on the death entry are actually dates that FamilySearch moved the date over from the older new.familysearch(dot) org to the new FamilySearch Family Tree - not the date that mdfaulkener entered the data - the actual data could have been submitted to FamilySearch as far back as the 1990's and that might be why you are not getting any reply.
Here are the two records I noticed today. You need to merge the duplicates of Kurt and Anna so all their info is in one record each:
There are two Kurt Walter Werner Johne records in Tree that appear to be your man:
PID KH39-1GL
Kurt Walter Werner Johne
b. 8 Sep 1902 in Berlin
d. 1960 (added May 30, 2012 by Mdfaulkener209869)
son of Karl Oskar Franz Fredrich Egon Johannes... and Anna Elisabeth Kubush.
Married to Anna Emma Eliesabeth Lehmann (PID 97TP-G4G)
Then there is
PID MH4G-BNL
Kurt Walter Werner Johne
b. Not given
d. 1960 (added Jun 8, 2012 by
mdFaulkener201869)
shows no parents
Married to Anna Emma Eliesabeth Lehmann (PID K81Q-YMQ)

Dear Robert. Thank you so much for your very fast and kind reply. Please know that it is very much appreciated. Well you have answered one question which was why it gave both Family search and M d Faulkerer as the sources of my Grandfather's year of death being 1960 if this was the year that Family search had moved their records etc. Interestingly you give the name M Di Faulkener but the site records it as M Di Faulkerer ( different spelling ). Maybe if I look at people of that name on social media is Facebook I might just strike lucky, but like you say this information could have been given years before 2012 and that person might not even be still living. I think that I have now accepted that I have gone to a ' dead end ' ...no pun intended recipient my Grandfather's whereabouts between 1947 - 1960 and as to what country he died in ...such a great shame as it has been a 82 year search in my mother's case of not knowing where her father vanished to. For me I have invested 5 years and hundreds of hours searching for an answer. I really believed that with all the modern technology that was available these days and DNA (I have had my DNA sampled for 3 sites ) that I would cracking the case ....maybe in life some things are just meant to remain a mystery. I feel heart broken for my mother and for myself defeated and deflated that I couldn't find the answers. I will tidy up my family tree this weekend if Granddad is showing twice. The first one is correct. I will also look up any More Di Faulkeners on FB ...maybe ...just maybe I might strike lucky. Once again a huge Thank you for all your help and kindness and for explaining about the records being transferred in 2012 which answers that question. God bless , thank you so much. Marina Quick x
