What is the best way to convert cassette tapes or VHS to digital? I had a company locally wanting to
The Family history center does it here in Salt Lake, if it were open. Hope you can wait. There are more places than you think that do it. Call around to Camera stores. They might give you an idea. Also, maybe calling Walgreens. They might have an idea. Depending on where you live thy might be able to help. Good Luck0

Kodak, LegacyBox, and Walgreens all have conversion services. I think I paid 75.00 to have 5 hours of cassette video transferred to DVD by a local company in my area to give you a comparison.0
Most companies will charge a pretty penny . . . . I would be interested in seeing just how much the prices vary from one company to another
if you know a family or friend who is good at technology though - and has the equipment - you can probably get it done very cheap or even free.
I myself have converted audio casettte and LP's to digital audio - using some basic equipment.
There are various devices that can be purchased to take the output RCA cables from a VHS and input them into your computer - which then makes it very easy to convert to digital.0
how many video tapes are you considering converting? that woudl be the major factor in the cost.0
I am not sure. I had someone do mine. And I'm planning on doing more.
But I use a commercial photo and copy place. I don't remember the name.
I hope someone will know more.
here is a comparison of some of the major players in VHS conversion
They are all in the general same price range.
Like I said if thats too expensive find an individual who will do it on their own - and not just as a company
thats the main way to get your price down.
Whether you use one of these companies or you find someone you know to do it personally
the general concept of how it is done is pretty much the same and not real "rocket science" or "magic".
The main factor in price is simply the time it takes to accomplish the task.
(unless you find a friend or family member - who is willing to take the time an no epxense to you)0
any luck in converting your VHS?0
I haven’t got it done yet. I have two VHS. I did see the responses and will look into it soon. Thank you for the input. I will let you know how it goes.0
