how to search records from a town instead of by person

FamilySearch has good directions on how to search by place name. Sign into FamilySearch, click on the help button, the question mark inside of a circle, at the top right of the screen. Enter the words: How do I search by place name, and a few results will come up that may help you find what you are looking for. Good luck.

.
Provided that you are referring to 'FamilySearch' ONLY ... not in general ...
.
(1) "Search"; and, search the "Catalogue"
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog
.
(2) "Search"; and, search the "Research Wiki"
https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Main_Page
.
(3) "Research/Places" ... Place Names Database ... in 'FamilySearch'
https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/
.
I hope this helps.

please clarify your scenario.
do you really not have a person name to search on?
or do you merely want to research a specific name ONLY for a specific location (town)?
