Document dump...

One of my second cousins just texted me quite a few photos of family documents and I’d love to add them to the LDS database but feel overwhelmed. Are there folks who are good at sorting things out and organizing/assigning items to people? Can I send them here?

Short Answer: 'No', unfortunately NOT to this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    .

    But ...

    That said ...

    .

There MAY be participants in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum that are, either, willing to help; or, can direct you to those that can help.

    .

IF, you live near, one of the "Family History Centres" (FHC) of the Church, around the Work; and, that FHC has reopened (due the the Temporary "Closure", due to the "COVID-19" Pandemic); THEN, Can I suggest that you visit that FHC, you may be able to get assistance there - either, to teach you how to "Upload" the Photographs into 'FamilySearch'; or, someone there may offer to help you.

    .

Of course, anyone would feel overwhelmed, when quite a few Photographs are given to them.

    .

The biggest problem/issue is that you will NEED to know the People in the Photographs; BEFORE, they can even be "Uploaded" into 'FamilySearch'.

    .

That is the FIRST Task, try to identify (Names; Date; Place; etc) as many People, as possible, in the Photographs; and, that is a task all on its own - you do not even have to worry about "Uploading" into 'FamilySearch', until you have dome that, once that is done that; THEN, the task of "Uploading" to 'FamilySearch' comes into play.

    .

I know that this does not help; but, I hope this gives you some perspective; and, ideas.

well you can definitely use the facilities here to upload photos etc. to FamilySearch Memories - thats what FS is for.

But dont expect that you can just pass it on to someone else who will do all the work . . .

Could you at least label each photo so we knew exactly who it applied to.

There are ways that you can upload a large amount of photo to a FS Album

and then have different members of your family link the photo to the person it belongs to.

BUT obviously there has to be enough info on the item to know who to link it to.

There are ways to share the work - among your extended family.

but for example - some family photo - with no clue as to who it is, when it was taken, where it was taken - - - is of little use to anyone. Someone needs to first gather those facts together and link such facts to the photo.

If you create an ALBUM in your gallery - and then upload them there (or move/add the ones you have already loaded to the new album) - THEN you will be able to share the album with others - and indeed other people CAN HELP you organize and sort and link these items. You dont have to do it all by yourself.

but it is best if one person on the project is doing all the uploading and acting as admin for the project.
