well, for example when you display your family tree in pedigree - each person on the tree will have a ID next to it (in the format of something like KWH7-N5T) - in fact any place in FamilySearch Family Tree - the ID is almost always shown near the name.

so you can navigate your family tree to the person/family in question and see the ID.

If you cant easily navigate the family tree - then you would use the FIND option.

also note if you know you have 10 people you need to connect photos to - you can actually go and find there ID's for all of them first, ahead of time - before you do any photo uploads so that when you start doing the photo loads you have all the ID's

your question is a bit confusing because - one way or another, and at some point in time - you NEED to LOOK for the people to find out what their ID is. once you have that ID and / or have it recorded you can use that ID in your photo uploads.

Yes, I tried to use that id on the tree thinking that was the one to use as I saw no other. It did not work when I plugged it in at the photo. So, I assumed there is another number that I am not finding. That is where the confusion comes in. I ended up using the "Find" which is ok by me, I just didn't know if I had missed something. Your idea of having the ID ahead of posting pictures is a good one, and I will do so. Thank you for your reply.

It should work - just fine

however one caveat that I have seen

is when people select the ID with their mouse copy and paste

sometimes they will copy an extra blank space before or after the ID

    and that causes issues.

when you do copy an ID - make sure there are no extra blank spaces before or after the ID.

BUT most definitely this should work

can you be a little more speciific as to exactly what happens and what the reaction is by the system when you do attempt to do it?

how are you entering the ID?

    a) typing it in?

    b) mouse select copy and paste?

    c) clicking the Copy ID option and then pasting?

Ah yes, I used copy and paste so there is a good chance I had a space in there which caused the operation not to work. Good reply, thanks for the info I will type it in from now on. Take care.
