ow do I add some of the info from an events record into the family tree record where the family tree record has more info from other entries but is missing some of the event info. Event "siblings on record" that are more complete duplicates of "other

from family tree" If I attach the event records, I will have duplicate entries of the children, however each record includes information the other doesn't have. How do I "merge" them, keeping only the accurate info (spellings, dates, etc.).

    Just yo clarify ...

    Questions:

Are your referring to "Merging"/"Combining" DUPLICATE individual/persons?

Or, are your referring to "Merging"/"Combining" DUPLIACTE/SIMILAR "Sources?

Let me try to clarify. I have a Family Search suggested possible source which is indeed an individual in my tree. In the left hand, "parents of record" column, the children listed are accurate and contain additional information to the children in the right hand, "parents from tree" column. I would like to merge them BUT the children in the right, family tree, column are listed as "other from family tree" instead of as children of the parents. If I attach the left hand column, it will list the children where they belong and the children in the right hand column will remain, below as "other" and will be duplicates. Since there is information in both entries that would paint a more complete picture, I don't want to eliminate one over the other but I don't want to carry each child twice. Help!

Also, which column entry disappears when you detach a duplicate entry (each with slightly different data), the source or the tree?

I'm new to getting into this level of data entry and merging of the reords and it is getting confusing. Seems one way would be to print the sheet, add data you want via edit to the entry you want to stand (tree) and detach the duplicate. Is that reasonable?

By the way, in the tree, the children were entered by smeone else, I am trying to correct.

In general, duplicates should always be eliminated through merging them together (as long as they really ARE representing the same identical person). If you just detach records from the family, then they are still there floating around in the FSFT. This confuses the hints engine, and it makes it more difficult to find and correctly merge-away those redundant records.
