How can I find out more information from this pension index? Also does anyone know what the service listed is on this record? I really don't have any other information on James Johnson.

    Hi, Jolie - All the index does is to show you where your ancestor served, and proves that he did serve. Your next step, to find additional information is to order his military records from https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/pre-ww-1-records. Of course, they're closed for COVID, but they will reopen eventually. You can go ahead and put in a request now by following those instructions, and maybe expect an answer in a year... Good luck!
