Same person on the same census 2 times?
I've seen the same person counted 2 times. My father was on the census with his parents and also with his grandparents. I've seen people name 10 kids the same name, but the prior one was dead. But I've never seen the same exact person listed 2 times. If one was a male, I could say it was Josefo and Josefa.
Any ideas?

Twins???

I have seen twins named the same before. I have two Maria Eugenias (twins) in my tree.
I don't know if this was a double entry, though. See if you can find more records about
them, marriage, death, etc.
Jose is masculine for Josefa, so it couldn't have been that.
My grandfather is also twice in the census. He owned a store, so he was counted there, then
at home he was counted again.
My guess would be it's a mistake and the census taker didn't notice or want to scratch the entry.

Twins with the same name. How does that even work? I thinking about them in school, driver's license, ????

Ha, ha... I agree. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it several times. I imagine they went by a nickname. That's why I can't sort out which of the twins was my gg-grandfather. Names were very traditional then. The parents could have promised to name their child after someone or a saint (promesas were a big deal), but this is just a guess.

There could be a Maria Josefa and a Juana Josefa for instance. One has to remember it's the enumerator recording the information from an unknown informant. It's also worth looking them up to see if they are from the community or elsewhere- sometimes one finds relatives serving as enumerators.

I think that "maybe" was a mistake of the enumerator recording the information. Two Josefas with the same age, and.... If you see the previous entry for "Hernandez, Adelicio" family there is one daughter named "Rosalia" registered twice with the same age.
I don't think that two neighbors will have two children with the same name and same age.
