@Della Bertolotte i
I am "Tagging" this general 'Question' of yours in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, to two (x2) specific 'Groups' in the Forum being:
(1) "Italy Genealogy Research"; and,
(2) "FamilySearch – Italia" ... [ in 'Italian' ]
in the hope that, the members of those groups may be able to answer/assist you.
ps: Both those Groups are "Public", which you can join, if you wish.

When researching Italian family it is important to know the place in Italy where they came from such as the town, the city, or parish. It is also helpful to know other family names such as parents and spouse. If they came to America many times the immigration records will list a town. Also, are there any older family members that can give you more information such as other family member names, places is the family lived. Below is a link to the Research Wiki article on researching Italy genealogy. It has a lot of excellent information. Good luck.
can you provide more info on Joseph and his family??
