Are all the films that can be digitized, already done? Does it help to request a film that is not available online to be "bumped" up in the line up of digitization if it has not been digitized?

@shelliwalkernye shelliwalkernye Film digitization is an ongoing process. It never hurts to contact Support and ask to have something digitized.

. . . but of course it needs to be something that is NOT under copyright

or even when it is digitized - it will not be made available.

    @shelliwalkernye shelliwalkernye

    .

    FYI

    .

Belatedly, on top of what has already been proffered ...

    .

NOT "All" Films, "Digitised" or not, can be made available 'On-Line'.

    .

IF, a Film has a "DGS" number; THEN, that Film HAS been "Digitised".

It may just be the case that the Film CANNOT be made available on-line.

    .

Although, many Records have been, both, "Indexed"; and/or, "Digitised", there are Records that still have not been, both, "Indexed"; and/or, "Digitised".

    .

Whereas, MORE importantly, there are Records that have been, both, "Indexed"; and, "Digitised"; but, are NOT (and, may never be, in the foreseeable future) available 'On-Line'.

    .

There are MANY reason WHY Records are NOT on-line.

    .

One of the main ones being that the Record "Custodian" has NOT given PERMISSION / AUTHORITY for such.

    .

Another one being that the 'On-line' ("Commercial") PAID (ie. "Subscription") Websites pay a Fee to the Record "Custodian", for access to; and, permission/authority to display, such Records; and, 'FamilySearch' is requested to, not make such available; or, take them down.

    .

But, there are a myriad of reasons.

    .

Whenever the Church goes to a Record "Custodian" to request permission to "Film" the Records, the Church (ie. 'FamilySearch') enters into Contractual Agreements/Arrangements with the Record "Custodian".

    .

    You must understand that:

    .

▬ There are COUNTLESS Records, all around the World.

    .

▬ And, there are COUNTLESS Record "Custodians", all around the World.

    .

▬ Naturally, of course, the Church (ie. 'FamilySearch') must enter into COUNTLESS Contractual Agreements/Arrangements with the various Record "Custodians".

    .

It is a, legal; and, logistical, 'mine field' and 'nightmare'.

Luckily, the Church has been doing so for over 125 Years.

    .

    Now ...

    That said ...

    .

IF, a Film DOES NOT have a "DGS" number; THEN, 'Yes', you can request that that Film be "Digistied"; and, in many cases, that Film is moved HIGHER up the priority "List" of Films to be "Digistied"; but, remember, that DOES NOT guarantee that the that Film WILL be available on-line, either, altogether; or, WITHOUT any RESTRICTIONS.

    .

You can submit a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case, requesting a Film be "Digitised".

    I hope this helps.
