I added the wrong person to my tree and can't remove him. The only delete option I can find says someone else created it and can't be deleted. I don't want it erased just off my tree. Help !

Just go to the "Relationship" where you added them (either, that as a, "Couple"; or, "Parent-Child"; and, then, "Remove" them from that particular "Relationship".

    .

Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch':

    .

    Couple Relationship

A person in Family Tree has the wrong spouse

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/a-person-in-family-tree-has-the-wrong-spouse

    .

    Parent-Child Relationship

How do I correct parent-child relationships in Family Tree?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-correct-parent-child-relationships-in-family-tree

    .

    I hope this helps.

I would like to help, but need the PID# shown in Family Search. You should be able to remove this relationship without deleting/erasing the original information. Don't try and delete the person, just remove him from the relationship which is incorrect.. I need a bit more information to help. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Only the creator can delete his own record and only if there have been no other changes made. You can easily remove (not delete) this person from the current relationship in your family. The best way is to go to the detail page of this individual and remove his relationship to parents following the steps in How do I correct parent-child relationships in Family Tree?. If there are no parents to remove and he is shown with the wrong spouse you can remove his relationship with spouse using the box showing the incorrect couple relationship, click the Edit icon. Follow the instructions for: A person in Family Tree has the wrong spouse.

I go into the relationship. I am under edit. I see button for remove or replace person but the person that is hightlighted

is the one i want to stay (husband) but the spouse that is listed is the wrong one. Its got incorrect DOB and such (wife)

The husband # is LKDV-FV5 is the right one but wife LKDV-NHC is the wrong one and i want to add a new one. I dont think i can edit the existing wife's info.

    thanks for all your help

    .

    Pictorially:

    .

Select the "Pencil" 'Icon' on the 'right-hand-side' of the "Couple Relationship" 'Box'.

    .

That brings up the "Pop-Up" (aka: "Modal") 'Widow' for the "Couple Relationship" where you can do various "Edits".

    .

For Spouse/Wife [ "Elizabeth" (LKDV-NHC) ], see the "- Remove or Replace" 'Button' on the 'right-hand-side' of her 'Box', select that.

    .

    Albin WEBER _ LKDV-FV5 _ 1

    .

That brings up the "Pop-Up" (aka: "Modal") 'Widow' for "Remove or Replace", where you can either REMOVE or REPLACE [ "Elizabeth" (LKDV-NHC) ].

    .

    Albin WEBER _ LKDV-FV5 _ 2

    .

That way, you do not affect the, Husband/Father; and/or, the Children.

    .

You can, either, REMOVE her altogether, leaving NO Spouse/Wife (or, Mother), where you can create a NEW individual/person or FIND a new one to add later; or, REPLACE with another that you have already found, the choice its yours.

    .

    I hope this helps.

well I tried that and the area where you showed the REMOVE OR REPLACE BUTTON only shows up on his name not next to hers. if i was good at using a paint program i would copy and paste. i saw the PENCIL icon and clicked on that but yet no way to remove or replace that person. did someone protect it so it cant be removed ?

    I can see the problem/issue ...

    .

You are doing that through, "Elizabeth" (LKDV-NHC),the Wife; so, you will NOT see/get that "- Remove or Replace" for the Wife.

    .

You need to do it through, "Albin WEBER" ( LKDV-FV5 ), the Husband, for that "- Remove or Replace" to appear for the Wife.

    .

If look at my screenshots, you will notice that I was working through "Albin WEBER" ( LKDV-FV5 ), not the Spouse/Wife - I should have mentioned that; sorry, my error.

    .

    I hope this helps.
