Information on ancestors of Gerald George Wynne Trevredyn-Tait
I am searching for information on the ancestors on my great grandfather Gerald George Wynne Trevredyn-Tait (b. 10 May 1891 in London - d. 13 Feb 1954 in Crediton, Devon). He Married Isabeau Joséphine Antoinette de Suarez d'Aulan (b. 18 Jan 1892 in Paris - d. 25 Mar 1980 in Winkleigh, North Devonshire).
I do know his parents were Jane (Jeanie) Fyfe and James Tait but I can not find any further information on them besides names. He had two sisters: Ethel May Tait (b. 11 Jul 1886 in Punjab, India - d. 13 Jan 1973 in BC, Canada) and Anne (Annie Wynne?) Tait.
Ethel May Tait married James Wilson Muncaster (b. c1885). I don't know anything about Anne Tait.
I believe their is a connection to Archibald Campbell Tait (1811 - 1882), Archbishop of Canterbury. I have traced that family as thoroughly as possible but I think the link is missing.
If I can figure out who the parents of Jane Fyfe and James Tait are that should make things easier.

I edited the post with a little more information. I do not have much on them.
There is a chance that Jane Fyfe (9QG8-P84) is the Jane Fyfe I am looking for but can not confirm that.

If you've looked at the 1891 census, you've seen that Jane was born about 1866 in Edinboro, Scotland and that Ann, as well as Ethel, was born in India. Since the 1891 census was taken on 5 April 1891, it was just before the birth of Gerald Tait. I don't know when or why Gerald added Trevredyn to his name. Gerald appears to be on the GRO birth index as Male Tait (Reg. Dist. Kensington, Qtr June 1891, Vol 1a, Page 130).
Ethel's baptism record shows that her father James Tait was an executive engineer for the Indian State Railway.
To obtain the fathers' names with their occupations for both James Tait and Jane Fyfe and possibly James' and Jane's ages, their marriage record could be ordered from the GRO (Reg. Dist. Hendon, Qtr Dec 1885, Vol 3a, Page 267).

I also found the family on the 1891 census at 188 Holland Road, Kensington, London. The mother is listed as Jeanie C Tate, aged 24 living ion own means, married, born in Edinboro (sic) Scotland. . The daughters are Ethel M aged 4 and Annie W aged 3 both born in India. That means that Jeanie would have been only about 20 or 21 when she was in India having her first child, so she and James may have married in India. I also found Gerald's RAF record on Find My Past and in 1918 his next of kin was his mother Mrs J,C Tait c/o Bengalu Nagpau Ry. Co which was presumably the railway company her husband worked for. This was at 11 Garden Reach Road, Calcutta, India. You might be able to find the railway personnel records as the British in India kept very good records. We saw on the 1891 census that the second daughter was Annie W Tait and I found a marriage of Annie Wynne Tait daughter of James Tait on 7 June 1922 in Simla, Bengal, India. Her husband was John Alexander Tower.

I've been recording information I find on the children Gerald, Ethel, and Annie on Ancestry at www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/108396914/person/282212149951/facts. I don't think information on the parents can be verified until the 1885 England marriage certificate is ordered from the GRO. I wouldn't be surprised if the maiden name of either James' mother or Jane's mother is Wynne.

Thank you. I absolutely believe you are right about Wynne being a maiden name. I found someone named "Sir Trevredyn Rashleigh Wynne (1853 - 1942)". He was married to Winifred Isabel Conduitt (1876 - 1951). I don't know if there is a connection and there was no more information, but the name does seem like an odd coincidence given Gerald was named "Gerald George Wynne Trevredyn-Tait".

I believe I may have figured out part of it. It turns out Jeanie (Jane) Fyfe's middle name is Collier and she had a burial in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. She died on 11 Apr 1927. I believe her parents were William Baxter Collier Fyfe and Jessie Wilson. This part gets confusing: It looks like one of William and Jessie's grandson James Wilson Muncaster married their other grandchild Ethel May Tait. I started putting them in my tree here. I still need definitive proof. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G4SC-4BZ
Thanks to information I received here I was able to contact a descendant of Anne Tower (Tait). They stopped replying suddenly but at least I figure it out.
