record information
I was wondering, has anyone ever got Belgium Military records from around 1840 to 1850's? I need to what info is in them. I have a chance to have a genealogist get them for me from the museum in Belgium but it is expensive, and not sure what value they will be.

This is an interesting issue. There are various types of military records, so it's hard to give you a definitive answer (their value, to a large degree, will be determined by what you are looking for).
Maybe this short FS Wiki article will help:
Kartographische Abteilung der Königlichen Preußischen Landesaufnahme
https://www.familysearch.org/Kartographische Abteilung der Königlichen Preußischen Landesaufnahmewiki/en/Belgium_Military_Records
I suggest that you also have a look here:
Then scroll down to 'Military Records' and open that section. Then click on each type and go into each one and look at the records to see what is available. It might be the case that the records you get from Belgium will be different from any of these, but this will give you a good idea of what *some* of the military records are like.
I hope this helps,
Fritz
