Edits on family name
Hello,
I see that someone, could have been me.. (OOPS) at some point in time, typed the last name of our family (mother's maiden name) incorrectly. There are a number of other trees where the last name is correct, but there is one that is incorrect and it needs to be deleted or amended. It won't allow me to edit it. What's the work around on this? Any suggestions?

I am sure it is frustrating that you were unable to edit your mother's maiden name. I need to ask you to tell me what steps you followed, or where you tried, in order to edit the name.

Geeze, I am not sure the program seems a bit daunting. I saw that her maiden name is correct on one profile, but it is incorrect on another. I could Merge or match it to the other accounts and write a note that it is incorrect, but it won't allow me to edit it. So that's frustrating.

Maybe you can look it up - my name is Maria [name removed for privacy]. My mother's name is Carole or Carol (spelled both ways on two different census reports. Last name correct is Hendrickson; incorrect is Hendrick.

Okay, so you can merge it. But it's so uncomfortable having Hendrick in there at all because it is WRONG. LOL!

You should always be able to edit the name on a profile, except where the profile is read-only, which was clearly not the case here. You would tap the pencil icon next to the relevant information on the profile's Details tab. If you did that and it didn't work, please provide more information.

It now shows Carole Hendrickson only, merge, edited name, edited sources that had Hendrick to Hendrickson
