After I have asked a question, is there a way to set up a notice to my email notifying me an answer has been posted?

Thank you

If you go to your profile look at your "notification preferences", under "posts" there will be boxes you can check that say "New answers on my question" or "New comments on my posts" or "New comments on posts I've participated in" If you check any of those boxes in the email row I think that will do it!

posting to suggest clicking on the bookmark ribbon at the top of your message will also alert you to replies to your inquiry

One more thing, what are badges? and what are they used for?

@mommycita badges can be collected as you use this Community more, answer others' questions, etc., but I honestly don't think they have much point.

Badges are something of a milestone marker. If you post x number of questions, comments, receive likes, are a member for a year, etc. It's mostly a forum participation indication.
