    Yes, I am asking the same question "why we are unable to see Peru records on Familysearch.org" anymore. Thank you!

    @Kathy Kimber Anderson @Aurea Valladares

    FamilySearch made changes to the Peru collection to comply with a new law in Peru effective March 31, 2025. Some have asserted that our legal team acted with an overabundance of caution, and that may be true. It is our desire to establish relationships with archive partners that will allow future release of as many records as possible. At this time, however, there is not a way to access these records online.

    Recent changes in the laws of this country have required permission changes in how the FamilySearch catalog and other information are obtained and viewed by the public. The first suggestion I can offer at this time is to keep trying to access the records over time, as the permissions may change in the future. Remember that the 1920s to current are not normally allowed because of privacy restrictions.

    I can also suggest that at this time you take advantage of other platforms for research, such as Ancestry or FindMyPast, to name a few, which work under different restrictions than FamilySearch.

    You may also want to contact the original Archives that hold the records if it is still possible to go directly to the source. (You will find the archive listed in the catalog record.)

    Peru records are currently being republished within the guidelines of the new law:
