1931 Canada Census Incomplete In FamilySearch?
Re-posting a question I asked in the Canada Research group, with no comments from the group.
Researching the Godfry Lavington Pike (LVCP-66R) Family. They are living in South Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada. They are fully findable and viewable in the Ancestry 1931 Canada Census, but I cannot find them in the FamilySearch 1931 Canada Census. I have tried multiple search variations, all with no luck. Are there indexing errors, and the search engine is unsuccessful with my search info?
I have experienced the same frustration looking for Frederick Chambers (GVZD-W4Y) and his brother Charles Chambers (GVZ8-R8H) living in Kindersley, Saskatchewan in 1931.
As I can see the Census details in Ancestry, is there a way to search geographically and by page or enumeration district?
My search begins here, and then I attempt variations in the search details.

Hello @DavidNCraig,
I have no afiliation with FamilySearch other than being an online user.
I just spent the last hour trying to find "Godfrey L Pike" (as he appears in the 1931 Canada census on Ancestry) in the "Canada, Census, 1931" databse on FamilySearch to no avail. I tried many different search variations, even at one point using the location "Britannia No. 502, Saskatchewan, Canada" which is on the first page of the census record on Ancestry and which is a legitimate place in FamilySearch. I also tried variations of South Battleford, North Battleford, and Battleford with no success.
You are correct — there is definitely a problem here. Maybe some census pages are missing.
FYI: My search began here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/collection/5000196

@DavidNCraig It is a known problem that many of the indexes are missing from the 1931 Canada Census and cannot be added at this time, but you can attach the image: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QHJ-GQ5Q-4S6F?view=index&groupId=&lang=en

@SerraNola Thank you for the image. How did find it? Did you view the image in Ancestry, then search for other individuals on the page until an indexed person was located in the FS 1931 Canada Census?

@DavidNCraig I did view it in Ancestry to get a District number which I thought would help me find it in catalog listings on FS, but the films are not listed in the Catalog. I had to search by the town name in Images.

@DavidNCraig I also have no affiliation with FamilySearch other than being an online user, but I also went to Ancestry for the 1931 Canada Census about an ancestor and then was able to locate my person of inquiry on FS where I then continued my research - if you are able to share any deceased person details, the FS community may be able to help with your subject of interest - Best Wishes, Mary
