How do I get more hints when I run out?

Record hints are historical records that Family Tree finds for you about your ancestors. Family Tree conducts this search automatically. In fact, since they are always adding new historical records to FamilySearch, the hinting system is always looking for new record hints about your ancestors.

Make sure that every field is filled in and is done so correctly to FamilySearch parameters including being sure that the dates and places are standardized. Below are some things that have helped me get more hints.
In the primary name Section: Make sure there are not any nicknames in the first name field such as: Robert "Bob". Only list Robert in the primary section and put Bob in the alternate name field. If they changed their surname, only list one of them and put the other in the alternate name field.
In the "Alternate Names" section: List every different spelling that you have found, including all misspellings. List every name they have called themselves. I often encounter PIDs where the woman's married surname is not in the alternate name field.
In the "Events" section: Open up and read all sources to to find additional residences. Obituaries of other relatives often state something like "Survived by brother John Doe of Detroit"
Be sure to keep in mind that there is only X amount of records that are available electronically. Once you have attached all of them, there will be no more record hints until more records are made available electronically.
