Since last Friday after using Family Search for years, when I want to log into Catalog and other research tools I get the message "Oops something went wrong. Please refresh the page" I don't know how yo do this and why all of a sudden this is happening. Could someone please help. Thank you. Regards.Joe

    Hello Joseph,

Like you, I am having the same problem. I can't get passed this darn Oops page, no matter how much I reload the same. I don't know if maybe some of us are no longer allowed on the page or there is a glitch in the system. I sure would like to know.

    Anyone? Thank you

I just went to the catalog page with no issues. Hopefully, this means the issue was resolved. If not, please post with more information. Have you tried clearing cookies and cache?

Hi Joseph…I use Chrome and yes, many times, clear cache, cookies, search history..

I tried the page again today and the same " Oops, something went wrong Please refresh the page". I have reloaded the page more than ten times and its still popping up the same message page.

The last time I signed onto the family search site without issues and did a full day of family research was Nov.20.2025.

I read on another post that the person was told to upgrade her computer to use Microsoft 10 or more, I still have 7 on mine. Don't know if that's the problem. However, I am having the same issue when trying to sign into family search from my cell phone.

I am giving up…I'll continue to check messages daily in hopes that family search will come up with a solution.

    No more research for now…

    Thank you..God Bless

Exactly! Last time this site has worked for me was 20 Nov 2005. I've narrowed it down to them updating and now Microsoft 8.1 isn't supported. Also, my cellphone is having the same problems, but it iPhone XR from 2019 and can't update anymore.

I've been working on here almost daily since 2018, and this is very disappointing.

As mentioned above, browser and operating system levels are often very relevant in these types of situations.

    Looking at  https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/which-internet-browsers-are-compatible

FamilySearch only supports its websites on the current and most recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox, and the current and most recent operating system versions. This will mean in practice that FS' frequent changes are likely to have been tested only in these environments.

If your browser and/or operating system doesn't meet the requirements at the above link, a likely scenario is that the functionality that is failing has been changed and now uses browser technology in a way that is not supported on the software you are currently using.

You could try testing on a different browser.

If that doesn't help, I am afraid you're unlikely to be able to use the relevant functionality without upgrading your operating system and/or browser to supported levels. It may be that your hardware will support such an upgrade, or sadly it may not.

It is also worth noting that the latest operating systems, software, browsers, apps, etc. all have the latest security measures in place to prevent hackers, etc.

This issue has nothing to do with discrimination against those who cannot afford to upgrade. It is for the safety of every user and the FamilySearch website.

On a side note - FYI - If you do not have the latest technology, for your own financial safety, do not do any online banking, mortgage, bill payment, health insurance, doctor’s office communications, tax returns, credit card payments, etc. Otherwise, you risk identify theft. Reclaiming your identity will cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. A new Chromebook starts at $110, a restored one starts at $45.
