Free access to Ancestry
Hi everyone, as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with a FamilySearch and Ancestry log-on, why is it that I cannot access Ancestry through FamilySearch? My LSD membership number can be provided on request.
Kind regards,
Julie Keaton

@KeatonJulie Thanks for reaching out. There are a couple of things that need to be done.
A- Your Ancestry account and Family search account have to be linked. Here is the process for doing that.
- Sign in to FamilySearch.
- Scroll to the very bottom of a screen and click Solutions Gallery.
- Click on the Ancestry tile.
- Click Join for Free.
- If asked, choose your preferred language, and click Continue.
- Use the instructions on the screen to use your existing account. If you are already signed into Ancestry, you will be asked to continue with your existing account. If you have previously linked your account, you will be shown the email and username associated with your Ancestry account. Just sign into that account.
- If you are unable to access your Ancestry account, do not try to create a new account with Ancestry. You can have only one free account.
If you encounter any problems as you register for free access to Ancestry, please contact FamilySearch Support. Please do not contact Ancestry.
B- If your Ancestry account is linked to Family Search, when accessing Ancestry from Family Search you need to make sure you are signed into Ancestry. Family Search does not sign you into Ancestry. To check if you are signed in, look at the upper right hand corner of the Ancestry page, If you are not signed in, there will be a prompt to sign in.
If you encounter any problems, please contact Family Search Support. There is a specialty team at Family Search to help get you connected.
