Please, I need someone to help me. It is vitally important to be able to access image 388 from the link https://www.familysearch.org/es/search/film/007709328?cat=455331&i=0. I beg for someone's help...

    Those are apparently only available in Salt Lake City. Most of the participants in this community are not in Salt Lake City.
    I usually recommend finding a researcher in the Salt Lake area, on Cyndi's List, to fulfill such a request.

    Hope this helps.

    I am not connected with FamilySearch, nor am I a LDS church member.

    I believe this item is not available at all.

    The catalog record for DGS 007709328 is https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/results?q.filmNumber=7709328 (two items)

    This is a microfilm only available at the Granite Mountain record vault, and as such, it is NOT AVAILABLE AT ALL for viewing at the FamilySearch Library. See the link https://www.familysearch.org/en/library/microfilm-microfiche-and-CDs under Frequently Asked Questions "What if I can’t view the film digitally at the Library? Certain films have limited access, such as being required to have a FamilySearch account and/or be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you meet the requirements but still can’t view the film, look for a physical copy in the Library’s cabinets. If the physical copy is not available, unfortunately we can no longer order a copy from the FamilySearch Archives. You will need to wait until digital access is made available in the future."

    To confirm this, I also looked in the catalog specifically for the FamilySearch Library, without a result. This means there is no physical microfilm available at the Library.

    @MauricioSeguel

    It looks from @MaureenE123's researches as if FamilySearch is a dead end, but have you tried the relevant local record office? The microfilms will have been created from originals which may hopefully still be accessible (even perhaps digitised) in Sri Lanka.

    This (and/or the other Sri Lanka Research Wiki pages it has links to) may perhaps help: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Sri_Lanka_Archives_and_Libraries

    @MandyShaw1 I am a bit confused [easily done…]. I was under the impression that the entire holdings within Granite Mountain have been digitized. Some are restricted such as in this example. I was surprised to see in the catalog that there is the 'reel' icon next to the two entries and not the 'camera' icon. @MauricioSeguel mentioned a specific image number which makes me even more confused as there indeed appears to be a total of 648 images in this record set. So I'd think in the right environment it should be viewable in a digital format

    @Mark McKenzie_1 The reel icon now means that the images are only available in Salt Lake City. I've been hoping the icons would be updated to reflect the current status.

    @MauricioSeguel I am curious as to how you originally came by the link in your post. If it was from some other individual or otherwise found as a link in a document or article, you may have better luck reaching out that way. Or as @Áine Ní Donnghaile mentioned reach out to someone in the Salt Lake area

    For general information, the following is a topic called "Films located in Granite Mountain Vault" from a Group in this Community which states "If a catalog entry shows that the location of the item is the Granite Vault, those films are not accessible—anywhere".

    No records in the Granit vault are not viewable by guests. It is a sealed vault.

    @MauricioSeguel So much confusion here.

    Yes, the microfilm is in the Granite Vault and cannot be accessed.

    No, there is not a physical copy at the Salt Lake Library.

    Yes, there is a digital copy which is now restricted to all access.

    All civil registration and church records for Sri Lanka have been restricted, regardless of date range. I sent an inquiry several days ago as to whether this is a permanent contractual change or temporary while they sort it out. I do not yet have a response. Sorry I can't provide a more clear-cut answer at this time.

    The Rights Management team has just let me know that, following instructions from the Office of General Counsel, all content related to Sri Lanka is currently restricted. That’s all the information I have at this time. Sorry, I wish it was better news.
