Scanning error found. Can it be corrected?
I discovered that a page was skipped when a birth record book was being scanned. The book is for births in Caronia, Messina, Sicily for the year 1899. I want entry #60 for Vincente Sangari but the scanned records jump from entry #59 to entry #63. Entries #60, 61, and 62 were skipped when two pages were turned instead of just one page. The link below is to entry #59. If you scroll forward to the next page you will see what I mean.
My understanding is that the record book is in the archives in the town of Patti. I have written an email and a letter to them months ago but never received a response. Does anyone know how this inadvertent mistake can be corrected so that I can get a copy of entry #60?
Thank you for any assistance anyone can provide.

Hi Helen - thanks for the additional information.
Yes, that Vincenzo Sangari was indeed a casualty in WWI. He was the son of Paolo Sangari. Mother's name not provided. It would appear that he died of illness as a prisoner of war.
Link to lookup name https://www.cadutigrandeguerra.it/CercaNome.aspx
Only enter "Sangari" in the field labeled "Nominativo e paternità" and then click CERCA at bottom left.
You should then get this result which leads to being able to see a transcription of the data provided in the book as well as the ability to see the actual page:

Hi Helen -
The short answer is "no" - there really is nothing you can do in terms of "having it corrected."
Your approach was correct. You need to write to the Tribunale or Stato Civile that is currently in possession of the records you are seeking. Your letter should be in Italian and be a specific request for a specific document. For example, Atto di Nascita, Caronia, Messina, Tribunale di Mistretta, Num. Ord. 60, 1899. They have nothing to do with the how those books were photographed, so leave the error/omission out of your request.
Another possible way to find this birth record is if you get lucky and find the Allegati that was submitted when Vincenzo got married. If you know where, when and to whom he married, there may be allegati that contains his birth record. Sometimes Italian marriage records and/or marriage banns have this information, but most often they do not - you need to get lucky and find the Allegati.Hope this helps you in your research.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, we think he died at the age of 18 during WWI and was single. His name appears on the war memorial in Caronia. Getting his birth record would confirm if he was the brother to my grandmother.

I am not connected with Family Search . You could try using the feedback button and reporting this in terms of
In the following link from the FamilySearch Library https://www.familysearch.org/en/library/microfilm-microfiche-and-CDs under Frequently Asked Questions
"What if the digital image is blurry, has cut text, or missing slides?
Send an email to books@familysearch .org explaining the issue(s) and a request will be sent to have the physical master copy at the FamilySearch Archives checked and re-scanned, if applicable."
It is probable that the original scanning was at fault, or may be even that the original register had lost a page, but I think it is worthwhile trying these options.

Thank you to SantaNinfa for pointing me to the military record for Vincenzo Sangari. His father was named Paolo so this is likely the connection that I was looking for.
Also thank you to MaureenE123 for your suggestion of using the Feedback button. I will give that a try.

@Helen1645 UPDATE
Vincenzo's 1918 death was reported back to his town of birth in 1920. His official death record can be found here, #13:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99CC-DBTYHis mother's name is not mentioned in this recording of his death.

Wow! Thank you so much for finding this record. I look forward to trying to translate it to see what I can learn about him. I am surprised that it doesn't mention his mother's name! Her name is Francesca Volpe if indeed he is the brother of my grandmother - and I believe he is. Thank you again!

I got a final resolution on the birth record that I wanted and mentioned in my original post. I wanted to get the image of entry #60 for Vincenzo Sangari to find out if his parents were the same as my grandmother establishing him as her brother, but it was skipped during the scanning process. #60 is written on the backside of #59. When I zoomed in on #59, I noticed that the paper was thin enough to allow #60 to show through, though it was very faint and backwards. So I downloaded #59, adjusted the contrast, exposure. and sharpness to make it a little bit more readable. Then I flipped it horizontally which made it read proper instead of being backwards. I was then able to find the mother's name and father's name which confirmed that they were indeed siblings. I will admit that finding the faint image of #60 on #59 was an accident and it would not have been possible except for the large amount of blank space on #59.
