Why not allow all members to delete chats that prove to be irrelevant or useless?

Over my time on family search I've reached out (by chat) to sooo many members who have posted on my family lines….Many never respond, others have no connection, whatever, to my family, others don't know what I'm talking about. Family Search has unknown millions of these unwanted chats stored, that we'd, just as well delete! May be of benefit to FS to allow deletion of these old unwanted chats….thanks, June Cocke Hall

As of right now it is not possible to delete a chat sent by someone else. See Family Chat guide I would suggest you submit a suggestion using the Suggest an Idea page. Maybe someone will take a look at it, but either way to expect an answer back unless they need additional information.

You can Hide a chat, which is effectively the same for you as deleting a chat -- it will be gone from your list. Were you aware of that option?
