I am looking at a record indexed on FamilySearch at https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NRQH-BGC?lang=en

The citation is listed as

"England, Births and Christenings, 1538-1975", database, FamilySearch

(https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NRQH-BGC : 5 February 2023), Ann Bates, 1830."

What is the 5 February 2023 date? Is it the date of indexing, or something else.

Can this name in on index be changed?

Thanks in advance.

The 5 February 2023 date (the citation date) is the last time this Record, including its indexing, was altered in any way (whether the change was visible to us users or not).

As is shown on the Wiki page for that collection, it is considered a Legacy Collection. https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/England,Births%5Fand%5FChristenings-%5FFamilySearch%5FHistorical%5FRecords

Information in Legacy Collections cannot be edited.

    Hope this helps.

@Ken Crossley Although FamilySearch will not be updating any indexes for Legacy collections, they are in the process of attaching indexes to the film on Legacy collections which will enable user editing. The index has not yet been "attached" to this film but you can view the images by clicking on "Check Image Availability" and then find and attach the image to the tree: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9F6-22K5?view=index&groupId=&lang=en

@SerraNola Is it possible that an Announcement or even a Blog post could be arranged to share the great news that indexes are being attached to their respective images in Legacy Collections? Might save many questions on the same subject.
    Thanks.

This has been going on for quite some time and I am only aware because I’ve had to report several cases of the index being attached to the wrong film. I'm glad that in many cases--despite the index not being synced, users can still choose to click on the film link and find the record on their own. It is a big step towards improving the accuracy of these records.
